Hello. This is the sharing post for Week Two: Mending Home and Family.
What does that mean?
That means if you choose to participate in this challenge (any time during the month of July) you can come back to this post and share what you did to help mend your home and family.
Simply leave a comment and share.
That’s it.
Easy.
I actually chose my “mending project” for this week at the beginning of June…and we have been doing it ever since.
Like the rest of the world our plans and daily routines have changed dramatically these past few months. We’ve tackled homework and housework and yard work through all the uncertainty but I watched as myself and my family started slowly sinking into bouts of anxiety.
I wondered what to do….and one day I decided to try a new kind of work with my family…a family work out.
Every Monday, Wednesday and Friday morning we haul ourselves out to the back yard to work through “stations”. We came up with 15 different “stations”…from jumping rope to sit-ups and wrote them all down on a white board.
Then everyone chooses a station and we set a timer for usually 3 minutes…and we do that activity until the time goes off…then we choose a different station.
We do at least 6 different stations and then head into the house to eat a simple breakfast together (usually scrambled eggs and toast) and talk about our plans for the day.
At first the kids were not about this plan but by the end of the week they were all on board. It gets us all up and moving for the day. It gives us an activity to do together. It gets us outside. It gives us a chance to plan our days together. It gives the kids a routine to depend on. Our bodies all feel healthier and stronger….and anxiety levels have gone down.
Ohhhhh….and my favorite part…I have pulled out all my old CDs and we choose a new one to listen to every day. Today we listened to this:
It was awesome.
The change wasn’t monumental but the effects have been.
Soooo share with us! What have you done?

I love this challenge! Mending home and family….my husband and I have been both working from home since March 16. We are both grateful to be working during these uncertain times! Spending so much time in our “home offices” we decided we needed to clean, organize and make new our surroundings. It has been awesome for both of us! We work out in the mornings together (him every day, me most days). He has lost over 50 lbs! We have a lunch date every day. For 6 weeks we enjoyed senior meals from the Senior Center, haha! !We have had a couple of social distancing bbqs with family. I miss their faces and company so much!!! We always have at least 2 summer sleepovers with any of the 9 grandkids that want to come. This year we can’t and we are all sad. We are finding ways to keep in touch! Covid-19 can’t stop love!

I’ve started making a quilt to hang in our stairwell. The sound travels between the floors and our house can get a bit loud. Curtains on the windows and rugs have helped soak up the sound and I think something hanging in that spot will help even more.
