We are so excited to be taking part in Riley Blake Design’s Virtual Quilt Market and to announce our next fabric collection called Bloom and Grow.
Growing up both Elizabeth and liZ read and reread “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett. We were enamored with the tale of young Mary seeking “a bit of earth” to tend and in the process discovering not only a secret garden but also the joy and power that comes with the love of family and friends.
“And the secret garden bloomed and bloomed and every morning revealed new miracles.” Burnett, Frances Hodgson, 1849-1924. The Secret Garden. Boston, MA :D.R. Godine, 1987.
As they grew up both we began to discover and tend to their own secret gardens…marrying their spouses, teaching school, raising children, and being actively involved in their different communities. And as time progressed, seasons changed…first year teachers transformed, newly weds celebrated 20 year anniversaries, and babies grew into teenagers…and with these seasons we thought again of “The Secret Garden”.
“If you look at it the right way, you can see the whole world is a garden.” Burnett, Frances Hodgson, 1849-1924. The Secret Garden. Boston, MA :D.R. Godine, 1987.
Over and over again we have seen the power that comes from tending a “garden”. Whether the garden is full of flowers or full of children, family members or friends it needs loving, mindful care. And when such care is given to its tending miracles are “revealed”.
“Where you tend a rose my lad, a thistle cannot grow.” Burnett, Frances Hodgson, 1849-1924. The Secret Garden. Boston, MA :D.R. Godine, 1987.
This line is dedicated to the secret wonders and lessons we have discovered while tending to the unique gardens that we have been allowed to tend and for all the miracles we look forward to experiencing in the future.
We can’t wait to show you more as the line gets closer to launching but hopefully this is enough of a sneak peek to get you excited for fall! We are thrilled to be able to do another line and this one with fun fall shades and a storyline that is near and dear to us.
