This Hot Cocoa Recipe is reserved for Christmas morning and was a recipe that my mom got from my Dad’s mom when they visited for Christmas one year. I don’t think it was a family tradition every year for them, but my mom brought the recipe home because it reminded her of that Christmas and it then became a tradition in my house growing up. It is super simple but makes the most decadent hot cocoa you have ever tasted.
And don’t let the whipped topping fool you into not trying it out—I promise it is a once a year thing that makes the perfect warm milk hot chocolate tradition. We usually make the cool whip mixture ahead of time and store it in the fridge and then start the milk to slowly warm (with the breakfast casserole in the oven) as we open presents. And by the time we are done–breakfast is ready and everyone is in heaven. It’s my kind of Christmas morning!
Christmas Morning Hot Cocoa Recipe
*1 (16 oz) tub of Cool Whip (or whipped topping)
*1 (16 oz) can of Hershey’s chocolate syrup (the kind you put on icecream)
*1/2 gallon of warmed milk
Put both ingredients into a bowl and stir until smooth. Add 3-4 heaping tablespoons to warm milk and serve….top with more chocolate syrup and marshmallow and enjoy!
Have a wonderful Holiday Season! We are taking a few weeks off while our kids are home from school but we will see you back in January with new tutorials.
And thank you for your support over this last year. We are so blessed to have all of you!
