Just over three years ago a made a Sawtooth Sunburst Quilt top pattern…
I used some amazing chambray (that I am still madly in love with) and it felt like the perfect quilt for spring and St. Patrick’s Day but somehow it ended up in the UFO pile.
It resurfaced about a year later and I fell in love all over again. I pulled it out of the bin, made a backing out of some wicked cool mens suiting material, and dropped it off at the quilters.
But then I moved and life happened and I forgot about the quilt…again…until a few weeks ago when I found it in a random box and decided that now was FINALLY the time to finish up this quilt.
I added some vintage floral fabric for the binding and the quilt is now hanging out in my family room! On my grandpa’s green velvet chair! And reminding me that I was right all those years ago…this quilt top is perfect for spring…and St. Patrick’s Day!
And…it inspired me to work on more of the UFO’s that I found in the random box.
Plus…I kind of want to make this quilt top all over again in different colors….it is an easy sew and turns out super cute!
To get all the details on how to make this quilt top you can check out THIS POST.
However…when I remake this top there is one thing I am going to change (and I think you should too).
The flying geese sunburst that come out of the sawtooth are all positioned in the blocks right next to the sawtooth EXCEPT that top pair flying geese…there is a row of plain blocks in between the sawtooth and those top flying geese blocks.
When I remake this quilt that plain row of blocks will be added to the top of the quilt and all the flying geese will be positioned right next to the sawtooth.
I just hope it doesn’t take me 3 more years to finish this next one.
