We all have it on our sewing machines…that selection of decorative stitches…some of have a few…others have a billion…but what do you do with them?
Well today we put together a short list of 5 fun examples of what can be done with those decorative stitches to help spark your creative juices flowing.
#1. I love the top section of this zipper pouch over on Fabric Mutt.
She has used a variety of decorative stitches together in easy to sew horizontal stripes to dress up the denim portion of the zipper pouch. Simple but striking.
#2. I love this example of decorative stitching by the The Stay At Home Artist
She has used the decorative stitches to top stitch around the perimeter of some flannel blankets and I think the result is just darling!!!
#3. This is a great tutorial for using decorative stitching over at the Silly Pearl
She has paired a neutral colored fabric with a terrific decorative stitch. Then she has repeated that stitch in a variety of colors to create her own fabric. So clever!
#4. You can use decorative stitching on pre made items like Sew4Home
Just grab a pillowcase or sheets and add your own personal touch with your favorite decorative stitches and thread colors!
#5. Awhile back Elizabeth and I made a short video showing how we like to use decorative stitching to add style and sweetness to the bodices of our daughters dresses.
We add the stitching to the fabric BEFORE we cut out the bodice…which makes it super easy!
