Why are there some days when making dinner seems so hard?
Sure there are days when I look forward to making a nice dinner…but then there are other nights…and those nights are a struggle. But why is it such a struggle? Here are a few of my reasons:
*By the time dinner time rolls around I am already exhausted and the thoughts of preparing something seem overwhelming.
*I don’t have what I need to make what I want and I don’t want to go to the store.
*I don’t want to make and clean up another mess.
*I’m hungry right now (and so are the kids) and I don’t want to wait while something cooks.
Any of these reasons sound familiar?
Well, if they do then you might want to hop on board the slow cooker train with me.
I seriously use my slow cooker at least 3 times a week. Yes…3 times a week…even when everyone is instapot this and instapot that I am more dedicated than ever to the slow cooker. And here’s why:
Because after I get the kids off to school and while I am straightening up the kitchen and the house for the day I can throw all the ingredients for dinner into the slow cooker and forget about it. Then when dinner time comes, it is ready, no one has to wait and I have one pot…the crock pot…to clean up.
It really is a simple solution for my family. When the kids come home the house is already smelling good, we all get a warm dinner, and my evening stress free! (Ok…maybe not stress free…slow cookers aren’t magic, but they do help with dinner even if they can’t help with homework.)
Some nights after the kids are in bed and I know the next day will be hectic I will even load ingredients into the crockpot and then place it in the fridge covered. That way in the morning all I have to do is drop the crockery into the warming portion of the slow cooker and I’m on my way.
It has rescued us from countless cereal dinners and has saved us who knows how much money on would be pizza nights.
It really is my favorite kitchen gadget…and one that I am fiercely loyal too. If you haven’t tried out your slow cooker you really should.
(And if you don’t have a slow cooker…or would like a new one…don’t forget to enter to win one HERE.)
