Last week we released The Scrappy Sawtooth Quilt Pattern and I made up one more to show you how cute it is with different fabrics. This one is the Halloween version made with Carina Gardner’s newest fabric line “Eek, Boo, Shriek.” from Riley Blake Designs.
I love the look of traditional Halloween so I went with using a 2.5″ roll for the middle nine patch of the sawtooth patchwork blocks and then did all the outside stars in some yardage of black and white swiss dots. I LOVE swiss dot and use it a lot in quilts, so I buy quite a bit of yardage. It just looks so great in a quilt. I did have quite a bit of the 2.5″ roll left over (you will only need 12-15 pieces) so you will have enough to make another Halloween quilt from the rest of the roll. I whipped up another rolie polie quilt and will put it on Instagram (@simplesimonandco) later this week 😉
Sew Shabby Quilting quilted this quilt for me and she did a darling spiderweb pattern all over it which is so cute for the Halloween feel. She is an amazing long-arm quilter and does a lot of quilts for us when we need them done fast.
There are so many different versions you can do of this quilt and I have so many more ideas. You can buy the PDF pattern here to make your own version of the Scrappy Sawtooth Quilt as a Halloween one, or there are kits available for the When Skies are Grey ones that we showed you last week or we’d love to see how you use it with other fabrics! #thescrappysawtooth
In other news, are you doing any sewing for Halloween this year? We haven’t even started talking about Halloween Costumes and I think we’d better if I am going to get anything sewn up! I am hoping at least one person still wants a handmade costume around here 😉
Happy Wednesday and Happy Quilting!
