Today’s skirt tutorial, The Starboard Skirt, is from the archives but if you have never made one—they are my favorite skirts! They look great on all shapes and sizes from girls to women’s and all sizes in between. I honestly can’t believe this tutorial is from six years ago but it is such an ageless, classic style that it is still relevant today. And I have a few cut out for Skirting the Issue that I am excited to sew up.
The Starboard Skirt is a box pleated skirt that is made in two pieces with an elastic back that makes for a darling a-line skirt! You can see the full tutorial HERE…and make a few for Skirting the Issue and a few for other little girls in your life.
These skirts were made out of home dec fabric, but any heavier-weight fabric will work great. It helps the skirts hold their shape and hold the pleat in the front. So, if you have some heavier-weight fabric ready, you can sew up a few today!
