We’ve had a few birthday parties to go to as of late and buying gifts for tweens and teens is kind of a hard feat sometimes. So, we’ve been making them! And as you probably know if you’ve been around here for any amount of time is that zipper pouches are are a go-to-quick sew…so zipper pouches it has been! And the new addition to the zipper pouches has been adding a faux leather tassels that are a cinch to make. So here’s a How to Make a Faux Leather Tassel tutorial if you need one…
Here is one up close of one of the tassels. And here’s how you make it…
Supplies:
2 inches by 12 inches of faux leather (I got mine at Hobby Lobby)
Strong epoxy glue (I used gorilla glue but E6000 is also a great glue to use).
Step 1: Cut 3/8″ slits about .5 inches apart all along the 12 inch length of the faux leather.
Step 2: Cut one more piece of faux leather 3/8″ inches by 1″ inch for the top tassel part. Glue that part on the top as shown in the picture above.
Step 3: Put some glue on the top section (the part where there are no slits) and begin rolling the tassel part up, gluing the whole way.
Step 4: When you come the end, place a line of glue to hold it all together and then seal the faux leather.
And you are done! If you are needing a tutorial for how to make the zipper pouch go HERE for several zipper pouch tutorials that are great to sew. And next week I will have some tips and tricks up for working with faux leather on your sewing machine. It’s quite simple if you have the right tools! See you next time…
