Today we get to show you how to make this cute Cloud with Rainbow Raindrops Pillow.
(And we have kits available in our shop for $12 if you want to make them exactly how we made them!)
Sooooo…let’s get started!
Supplies needed:
1/2 yard of fabric for the pillow cover (we used a home dec weight black fabric)
White colored felt for the cloud (a piece about 8.5″ x 11.5″)
5 different colors of felt for the raindrops (each piece needs to be about 3″x 4″)
Thread that matches your felt
A 16″ x 16″ pillow form (these can be purchased online HERE, at your local craft store, or even at Wal-Mart)
White embroidery floss for decorative stitching (optional)
Instructions:
To make this pillow (which is actually a pillow cover) you can use the printable instructions found HERE.
They will give you step by step all the measurements and cutting instructions. Just follow them but stop after you get to step #2 and follow these next few steps to create your cloud and raindrop pattern then return to step #3 and finish up your pillow cover!
How to Make your Cloud and Raindrops:
#1. Print the templates found HERE: filename-1 (1)
And then use them to cut out 1 cloud and 5 raindrops.
#2. On your pillow front fabric square place the cloud and 5 raindrops as shown in the photo below.
When you are satisfied with the arrangement secure them into place. You can do this by pinning or spray basting but I like to use a simple swipe of a regular glue stick.
#3. Using thread that matches your cloud and drops stitch around the entire circumference of each shape. (I try to keep my stitching line a scant quarter inch from the edge of each shape.)
#4. At this point you can be done and just return to the pillow construction instructions picking up where you left off at step 3 OR you can use white embroidery floss to stich a few straight stitches leading down from the cloud to the raindrops.
And either way…now you are done! So finish up the rest of the construction steps and start enjoying your new pillow!
This is a great project if you have felt scraps on hand and if not like I said earlier in the post kits for these pillows are available in our shop.
Each kit costs $12 (which includes the price of shipping anywhere in the continental United States) and includes everything you need to make the pillow except for the pillow form.
As always, if you have any questions please let us know! We would be happy to help!
