    Curling up on the couch with the family and watching a good movie makes me happy on cloudy day. I used to sing this song to both of my daughters to help them calm down and go to sleep every night. I sang it over and over one time in an airport before a late flight hoping she’d sleep through the entire flight. My mom sang it, and I hope my girls will sing it to their kids.

    I get really sad and lethargic when skies are grey – I think I have seasonal affective disorder (SAD).
    That said, pjs and hot tea and sewing are how I like to spend grey days.
    And this bundle, despite its name, looks very cheery and could definitely make a grey day better!

    What makes me happies is to get out and be amongst friends, do some fabric shopping and then come home to sew! I’ll throw a pizza in the oven for a “romantic” dinner with my wonderful husband!

    I sing the old hymn, “Count Your Blessings” and remind myself how blessed I truly am. I lost my Daddy at a young age, but that is one of my fondest memories of him, singing old hymns and being constantly thankful and happy in spite of the cancer.

    My mother in law passed away after my hubby and I had been married only 5 months. She made the most wonderful quilts for each marraige and new baby. When she passed I picked up where she left off. I have made 3 wedding quilts for nieces and my own children and over 15 baby quilts. Being able to continue this tradition a s keep grandma Jo alive in this way for the family makes me so happy when skies are grey.

    When the skies are grey here in the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia, I go to my happy place downstairs where hubby turned half our basement into my studio. The walls are white , and my sewing table, shelves and cabinets painted a beautiful light shade of poiple called “Night Magic Violet”. He even surprised me with a 18″ TinLizzie “Empress” longarm on a queen “Grace” frame(It still intimidates me, but i’m getting there). I load up some quilty youtubes on the tv he mounted behind my machine and forget about the dreariness outside.

    i do not enjoy rainy days even though i know florida needs the rain. i love the sunshine and am lucky enough to live in florida.

    however, i love to watch funny movies and crochet when it is rainy to feel better. the repetition of the stitches is calming and relieves stress and the comedies make me smile.

    Skies are often grey here in Seattle so we are pros at keeping occupied ! My 3 year old daughter and I are happy to do lots of crafts, making huge fun messes ! I love having this time to work on sewing projects, decorating my home and having dance parties in the kitchen with my daughter. I’m a photographer and love trying to find creative ways to photograph my daughter in her element at home with low light.

    At the moment I’m sick so we are watching Little Einsteins and pretending we are taking an adventure on a rocket ship !! We are world travelers and love to plan out where we will go next !!

    When skies are grey I have compiled an arsenal ofor “happy” as winter and Lupus do not play well together so I fight back at the grey skies. My heating pad, hot tea and lemon, new books or my Bible studies, i do all my binding when I am hunkered down too which I really enjoy, I get caught up on series that I have dvr’Rd, i make small projects for swap buddies, i keep my 18 month old granddaughter who is THE BEST baby on the planet (I am 100% sure of it, she is so easy, her parents don’t deserve that kind of easy on a first baby, lol) and my husband is a doting husband that gives me queen for a day kind of attention everyday so I am very lucky. Its easy to get down in winter when you are chronically ill and in pain everyday anyway, buthe try to find joy in every single day and in the simple things. Everyday is a gift after all. Oh, my new heating blanket! That brings me a lot of joy too! I LUV that thing. I am easy to please.

    Obviously, time with my family is of great comfort… just one on one time with each of my three little boys doing something they love (Monopoly! Building with Magformers! Colouring!) is great for my soul and my psyche. But honestly, the best thing ever is when they go to bed and I get to curl up on the couch with a great novel and a Coke slurpee.     Singing the song you are my sunshine actually cheers me up. I remember visiting my Aunt Debbie as a kid and she taught me and my younger sister how to sing the song. We had learned how to sing songs in the round earlier in school. Somehow my Aunt Debbie managed to keep smiling and laughing that whole week as we sang You are my Sunshine non-stop in the round. Every time I sing that song it cheers me up as I think of that special memory and remeber the lesson it taught me (see the Joy in every small thing) She sent me a pillow last year with You Are My Sunshine on it. I am definitely going to have to make her something sentimental with this fabric line
