Last year Elizabeth and I started a series that we are called “Teach the One” that we would like to become an annual event during National Sewing Month here on Simple Simon and Company. The idea for this series came from a moment at a conference that we attended at baby lock headquarters where it was said that if everyone just taught one other person to sew it would double our community….and the idea of doubling our community sounded sweet indeed.
We always say those who sew and quilt are among the kindest people on earth. Why? Because who are they using sewing for? For the most part not themselves…but for their children, grandchildren, neighbors, new babies, newlyweds, friends, or to donate to strangers…and why? to give comfort and send love. And because heaven knows the world needs more of both comfort and love the series was born.
Last year we shared stories from ladies in a variety of different professions within the sewing and quilting industry. It was inspiring to hear why they love this industry and how they have helped instill love of it in others.
This year will be a little different. This year Elizabeth and I want to share our stories…how we began sewing and why we continue to sew…and then we will follow that up with a giveaway and a BIG announcement as well as a weeks worth of sewing and quilting projects that are great for beginners. We hope you will join us!
