Hi everyone…we are Elizabeth and liZ from Simple Simon and Company are we are excited to give you all a sneak peek of our new fabric line that is coming out this fall.
If you know anything about us at Simple Simon and Company you will know that we love simple, classic prints and all of our fabric lines contain some sort of black and white. And this new collection is no different! When Skies are Grey Fabric Line comes in three color ways and was meant as a modern gender neutral nursery line—but it has some great low volume prints for quilting as well! This collection came about as a nod to our kids that we so dearly love and the song that we both used to sing to them while rocking them in rocking chairs, “You are My Sunshine.” It brings back sweet memories of those tiny little babies that smelled so good and made all the sleepless nights worth it.
The main print in the collection is actually a “cheater panel” that you can use to make a quilt, baby blanket or even fussy cut to make borders or new additions to your stash. We were able to show this new collection at Quilt Market and we were so excited to be able to work with it! Here are some of the highlights that we sewed from the collection.
Here is the view of our whole booth to give a sample of what can be done with When Skies are Grey Fabric Line! One thing to mention is that there are coordinates that go along with the line that are double gauze and knit. The little nightgown in the background is a sample of the knit that will coordinate with the line.
These are some cute baby booties, bibs and a bag that were sewn by Ameroonie Designs to show how to use the fabric.
Above the teepee we were able to string lights and some cute clouds and raindrops that would be darling in a nursery!
You can find the teepee pattern HERE…
And tutorials for the dolls HERE as well.
And I am in love with these tiny zipper pouches that Amy also made. She brought them as presents but we had to display them—they are so cute!
We are so excited to show you more of this line soon as well as some quilt patterns that we are working on to showcase what you will be able to do with the line. Look for it at your favorite quilt shop starting at the end of September!

Love this fabric line too. They remind me of growing up in Portland, Oregon.
FYI, today I wrote a post about using sewing talents to help charities & highlighted Skirting the Issue.
