I feel like after this summer I have let my house go a bit…..which honestly I am fine with because it means we’ve all had a great summer but I think for me it is time to take control back when school starts!
50 Five Minute Homemaking Tasks
I am calling this Part I of a Four Part Art of Homemaking Series that I mostly need for myself. But you are welcome to glean any information you can if it is useful to you as well! I am breaking up all of my household tasks into 5, 15, 30 and 60 minute jobs to keep me organized. Mostly because keeping a house with 6 people living in it is sometimes feels like more than I can handle.
If you are anything like me, I literally have to talk myself into doing cleaning tasks. Sometimes just walking around the house and seeing all that needs to be done on a daily basis puts me in cleaning paralysis. And then I get overwhelmed and don’t know where to start. So, I talk to myself. When I come upon a mess….I say, “This is only going to take me 5 minutes.” And then it seems doable. And most of the time…it really only does take 5 minutes! (If I work fast, or don’t get distracted that is 😉
So I spent a few minutes the other afternoon thinking of all the tasks that I can accomplish in 5 minutes or less. I tried really hard to keep them simple and doable to not let myself get cleaning paralysis so I can actually get things done.
And it’s a printable list…..just right click to save and print as an 8 by 10 inch page.
My plan is to put the list on the fridge and then take one or two tasks a day while I have time. And hopefully the result will be a cleaner house quicker!

That is a great list..

That is a great way to think of it! All those things together would be overwhelming, but seperate, they are completely manageable!

Great list and great way to tackle things.
One thing for the oven auto clean: set it after you baked or cooked in it. It’s still hot and therefore will save energy to reach high temperatures.
Wish us all a cleaner house and no cleaning paralysis.
