I have suddenly found my way into the late teenage years with two older foster boys and we are talking prom season at our house–how they are going to ask, what color dresses and corsages the girls are wearing (okay they aren’t asking that one, but I am š and so I thought it might be fun to make some DIY felt flower bouquets and boutonnieres for prom. But these flowers are not only great for prom….they would be ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for any weddings that you have coming up as well.
So, today we are sharing two fun felt flower tutorials that are perfect for Spring Prom or Wedding Season which is right around the corner. Ā And to top it all off I made both of them for under $10 which you all know is a bargain when talking about flower prices! The first is up on the Accuquilt Blog with a flower bouquet and over here is the matching boutonniere tutorial.
You can find the Full Bouquet Tutorial up on Accuquilt’s blog today and below you will find the tutorial for the feltĀ boutonniere.
Materials:
*4 Felt Flowers Cut with Accuquilt Flower Die Cut (or cut your own shape)
*1 accuquilt leaf shape
*1 floral wire wrapped and folded in half
*.25 inch of green felt for wrapping wire
*hot glue
*2 pearl pins to holdĀ boutonniere in place
Step 1: Take the Accuquilt flowers and cut slits about .5 inch toward center without cutting too far.
Step 2: Put a small dot of hot glue in the middle and fold in half. Repeat for all four flowers.
Step 3: Fold each flower in half again, like the flowers shown below.
Step 4: Glue all four flowers around your floral wire to secure tightly.
Step 5: Glue the green leaf on and the strip to cover the floral wire.
And you are done! Ā Pin in place with quilting pins and you are ready to go!

What a great idea! My Sophmore is going to a prom of sorts (it is a religious one, even though we are not of that religion) with her friend. Real flowers are so unpredictable, and these you can do ahead of time!
I hope you take lots of photos of your boys:)
