I talked about this on Instagram awhile back but as I was cleaning out my sewing room after the holidays I started piling up my unfinished projects and found a stack of things that I had started but never finished. I found 11 things that had been started (or some near completed) that I made it one of my new year’s resolutions to finish. The darling dress was in the pile….and it only needed buttons and cuffs—I don’t know why it took me so long to finish it!
I started with this vintage pattern….
And sewed it up straight from the pattern. I was trying to decide which vintage buttons to use on it, and luckily before I decided I made Hannie try it on–only to discover that the neck was a bit tight. So, knowing that she would wear it with the top button unbuttoned, I decided to go with the matching buttons (bottom left) to have them blend in instead of contrasting. And I think they worked well.
I definitely will make this pattern again…it is so darling on! I did slip a note into the pattern that the neckline probably needs to be opened up a bit in order for the dress to button all the way up…but that’s do-able for the next round. I am thinking 3/4 sleeves with a contrasting yoke for spring is next!
What have you been sewing lately?

Look at the bust size for the size 10! A lot smaller than a size 10 today. Of course, the smallest size available back then was a size 8. There were no zeros, 2, 4, and 6 sizes.
