The best handmade gift I ever received is a hope chest from my Papa York who has passed away since giving it to me. I treasure it.
The best handmade gift that I ever received was actually a Secret Santa gift. It may sound random (and/or useless) but a friend gave me a collection of ribbons and fibers for paper crafts etc… The way it was packaged, the thoughtful and fun selection of ribbons and the reality that this was such a perfect gift (how could someone know that I would love ribbon scraps SO MUCH!?) for me have made this gift stand out as one of my favorite handmade gifts ever…even (nearly) 10 years later.
I have been blessed to have a family that enjoys making and receiving handmade gifts! My favorite has been a family quilt made by my mom, I look at it every day and know that I can pass it to my children when they are older! Such special items to treasure!
One of the best handmade gifts I ever received was a shelf made by my grandfather. It is on the wall behind me as I type.
