Yesterday I made Grace a Thanksgiving skirt.
Which was a tricky thing since she didn’t want a turkey on her skirt! 🙂
Actually the making of the skirt itself wasn’t tricky…I just followed the steps that I used in THIS TUTORIAL that shows you how to use a plain, dollar store T-shirt to make a skirt in less than 30 minutes.
The tricky part was thinking of an idea for a Thanksgiving skirt that was turkey free..and on a “dark blue” background…and that would still make a certain someone happy.
What we came up with is a nod to the legend of Squanto teaching the Pilgrims to plant their corn with the fish to help it grow.
Not super traditional…but really easy to make! Â We just cute the shapes out of felt scraps and and I stitched them to the side hem of the skirt.
And all was well.
And all really was well.
Man…I love this kid. Â It’s been awhile since I have made this cookie something new and it’s been even longer since we’ve gone out taking photos…I’d forgotten how much fun that is. Â I need to soak this all in while I can, these days won’t last forever. Â And these days…these are the days…

Where can I buy good quality knit fabric ? I don’t like the quality at JoAnn fabrics.

I’m not clever! Just trying to think of a thanksgiving skirt without a turkey!

This isn’t really “good quality” knit. I made her skirt from women’s t-shirts that I purchased at the Dollar Store. But when I am buying knit I usually gravitate towards Riley Blake’s knits. They don’t peel or go crazy in the wash.
