I finally at o’dark-thirty finished everyone’s Halloween costumes this year! Holy cow….was I last minute. Therefore I present to you one last minute costume….and not-so-last-minute (even though it was sewn last minute.)
First up, Miss Mary Poppins from It’s a Jolly Holiday…..both kids who are dressing up went with Disney Halloween costumes this year.
The dress was a mix mash up that I mostly just ended up drafting myself. The fabric is a white sparkly chiffon for the outer layers and then I lined the whole thing in white cotton. The big bow was ruffled out of the chiffona nd handstitched it on to stay in place. We opted for a big red sash instead of a corset (mostly because of time) and I think it still looks cute. We had the tights and the shoes….but I did buy the parasol and hat. For the hat I hot glued chiffon onto the top to come around and tie the bow under her chin.
And if you still need a last minute one….Hiro Hamada from Big Hero 6 is a great one! Up until the last minute, was changing his mind left and right…and isn’t big on dressing up. So he decided on Hiro Hamada, mostly because his clothes “were cool.”
We bought a blue zip-up hoodie and then a red shirt but the pants and shoes we already had. I found a vector file of the robot online and printed it on iron-on transfer paper. The iron-on paper worked like a charm even though most of the image was red and I was worried about it showing up. We borrowed a Beymax stuffed friend from liZ and called it done!
Have a wonderful and safe Halloween!!!

You always blow it out of the park–love the Mary Poppins and I don’t have a clue who Hiro is! No boys and my girls are teens! 🙂
