We’ve kind of been keeping a bit of a secret…..and today is the day to announce it. Over the summer we had the opportunity to film a video with Jenny Doan from Missouri Star Quilt Company (we kind of did a sneak peek on Instagram so maybe some of you figured it out). And the video is going live today!
We literally had the most amazing time in Hamilton, MO with Jenny and her family and by the time we left we had eaten so much and laughed so much that we felt like we were part of her family. They are absolutely amazing people.
The video we filmed with Jenny is a simple and easy women’s maxi skirt that fits sizes XS through XXL and is a great A-line shape. Throughout the years we have found that people are a little timid about sewing with knits and this video is designed to help everyone get over that fear! With just two side seams, a waistband and a hem….this is also the perfect skirt for beginners and advanced sewists alike.
You can find the full video that we taped with Jenny here for the SIMPLE MAXI SKIRT. The fabric used in the video is our new knit collection Four Corners from Riley Blake Designs (you can buy bundles HERE) and we are so thrilled to see that it is finally arrived in stores. We LOVE, LOVE the big bold pattern with our knits and the skirt pattern….it was like serendipity when we saw them together for the first time….they work so well together.
And here is what the PDF pattern cover looks like.
And if a PDF pattern isn’t your speed we are selling the paper pattern version in our SHOP as well as many other quilt shops and retailers. It would make the perfect gift for Christmas or for anyone on your list this year. And you can include it in your “Teach the One 2 Sew” campaign by helping someone else learn to sew knits with this simple pattern!
Here is the sizing chart from the back pattern cover so you will know which size to cut. If you are between sizes I would cut to your full hip measurement and then adjust the waist in or out as needed.
The full PDF version of the Women’s SimpleMaxiSkirtPDFPattern can be found by clicking on the button below and it will take you to another page….click on the PDF link and it will allow you to download the pattern.
A huge thank you to Jenny and all of the amazing people at Missouri Star Quilt Company for the opportunity….and we’d love to see all the skirts you are making on Instagram….just use the #simplesimonmaxiskirt and we will be sure to see them.
We are so excited to see all the maxi skirts that you are going to make!!!!

Love this skirt! What kind of elastic are you using and where can we get it?

ON THE MSQ TUTORIAL YOU SAID THERE WOULD BE INSTRUCTIONS FOR THIS MAXI SKIRT USING A PERSONS OWN MEASUREMENTS. I SEARCHED BUT COULDN’T FIND THEM. PLEASE ADVISE WHERE I CAN FIND THIS AS YOUR PATTERN SIZES DON’T COVER ME AND I REALLY WANT TO MAKE THIS SKIRT. VERY GOOD TUTORIAL.
Emily says

Crystal says
No matter which way I print the pattern the 4″ square is 1/16″ off on one of the sides. Will this be a problem?
Elizabeth says
Crystal, You should be fine….printers can be so crazy sometimes!

Hi, I love your tutorial I found on Pinterest! However I had to print landscape to get the pattern to be close to 4″. The landscape gives me a 4 1/16 wide and a 4 3/16″ tall square. Do you think it will work out ok? Thank you
