One of the first sewing projects that I made on my own were ragged diaper bags, followed by ragged tote bags, followed by ragged scripture carriers, followed by ragged blankets. I was crazy for anything ragged!!! And I have no idea how many ragged items that I’ve made. For several years there I always had a ragged project and a pair of scissors lurking in the glove box to be clipped while riding in the car.
The great thing about ragged projects is how forgiving they are….if your lines aren’t perfect…who cares?!? No one will even notice once the item is clipped and washed! I really think that ragged projects are terrific for those beginning to sew. They often come together quickly and look darling when finished.
Today I put together a round up of some of my favorite ragged tutorials from the past and then on Friday I have a brand new ragged tutorial that I am CRAZY excited about. So if you are new to sewing, teaching someone to sew, or just want a fun project check some of the ones out that I have below!
Little Ladies Ragged Bag Tiny Tote
So there you have it! Four easy ragged tutorials…and I’m telling you, even though I’ve made hundreds (and that isn’t even an exaggeration) of ragged projects I still love making them. So if you haven’t tried a ragged blanket or tote give it a try! Especially if you are new to sewing!

One of the first things I learned was raggedy reverse applique. It is so easy and cute! I did blankets and burp cloths that way. What a fun thing to have in common. 🙂
