In the summer I don’t want to turn on the oven a lot, so we grill outside 2-3 meals a week and I love it. They are fast, easy meals and most often times I can have them ready in thirty minutes or less. This grilled pizza is one of those go-to summer recipes both because it is fast also so yummy and it is one that no one in my house will complain about!
Below is the recipe for the dough, I make it and only let it rise about 5-10 mins (enough time to get the grill hot) and it is ready to go…
Here is the perfect dough recipe to use for the how to make pizza on the grill….
Pizza Dough Recipe
1 package of yeast
1 cup warm water
1 t. sugar
2.5 cups flour
2 T. olive oil
1 t. salt
Place yeast, sugar and warm water in a bowl. Stir and let sit for a few minutes until yeast becomes bubbly and frothy. Then add the remaining ingredients and mix well until dough is elastic and smooth. Let rise about 10 minutes in a oiled bowl in a warm location.
Form dough into 2 small round shapes (I just manipulate it by hand) and place on a medium hot grill. DO NOT MOVE. Close the lid on the grill and let cook 4 minutes. With a big spatula, turn the pizza dough over and let cook another 3-4 minutes with the lid closed. At this point turn the grill down on low, then top the pizza with homemade sauce, fresh mozzarella, basil and any other pizza toppings that you love. Allow the pizza to cook with the lid closed another 5-7 minutes until cheese is melted.
And you ready to serve and eat!

PS Do you cook anything else on the grill that is a bit unusual? I’d love to try a new recipe.
