Today we want to show you a quick way to make some fun over sized yarn tassels. They are great for parties, kids room decor or even to decorate a playhouse or a teepee! We have paired them in so many ways….I love how versatile they are.
Materials: cotton yard (or any yarn of your choosing), piece of cardboard 11″ tall (I used a manilla folder), and scissors.
Step 1: Wrap yarn around a 11″ piece of cardboard about 80-100 times (I like the tassels pretty full…but you can adjust this number based on your preferences.)
Step 2: Slide the yarn off the cardboard so you have a circle like this.
Step 3: Take a 12 inch piece of yarn and tie it about 1.5 inches from the top. Then wrap the remaining pieces around it like the picture shown below.
Step 4: Using scissors cut the bottoms off the tassel to even it up. I cut off about .5 inches but you can do any length you need to make it even.
And you are done! For the top photo I tied them on some small pom poms for a garland and below we used these giant tassels on our Playhouse Teepee Pattern. You can find the PDF and the paper pattern for The Playhouse Teepee in the shop next week!

Super cute. I was just thinking last night how I need to get going on my snowball garland made with yarn. LOVE the teepee photo!
