Recently, especially in our newsletter, Elizabeth and I have talked a lot about a pile of behind the scenes projects that we have been working on. Most of those projects have been rather large and we haven’t been able to share them but this week we get to finally tell you about several of them! So today we are starting off with one of these projects that we are really excited about:
Designer Joi’s Sewing Holiday.
We met Joi almost one year ago and were totally impressed by her self confidence and enthusiasm for sewing. But it was her bubbly personality and vision that instantly won us over. So when she sent us an email asking if we would like to participate in her Sewing Holiday we HAD to say yes. And be super excited. And feel so blessed to rub shoulders with such amazing women.
Designer’s Joi’s Sewing Holiday is a 3 day event held in Sioux City, Iowa….and it’s going to be so much fun! The event is for anyone who loves to sew…at any skill level…no matter what your interest is from garment sewing to quilting and embroidery…there will be classes for all skill levels and interests! Plus the teachers are amazing….(her line up includes teachers like Eleanor Burns and Mary Fons!).
The conference will also include fantastic lunches and buffet dinners, sewing machine giveaways (the event is Sponsored by Baby Lock….so you know the machines are going to be fabulous), and a sewing for charity project….which is where Elizabeth and I come in.
Every July we hold our Skirting the Issue Event and Joi’s Sewing Holiday happens to be in July! It’s a match made in heaven!!! So for the duration of the Sewing Holiday Elizabeth and I will be in a booth full of fabric, elastic, thread, and sewing machines sewing up skirts for Skirting the Issue and anyone who attends the conference can come hang out with us and sew up some skirts as well as take home a skirt kit to sew at home if they’d like.
Then at the end of the conference we will be donating all of the skirts made to Unity Point Health in Sioux City via the Children’s Miracle Network Hospitals! (And our goal is to have 400 skirts finished and ready to donate!) How great is that?!?!?!?
We are really so so excited for this event and feel so blessed to be invited to be a part of it. We can’t thank Joi enough for including us in her conference. We also need to send a HUGE thank you to Springs Creative who has generously donated ALL of the fabric for the 400 skirts for our event.
Like I said….we feel so blessed to rub shoulders with such wonderful people…
If you are going to be in or around the Sioux City area in July (or would like to be) check out the event….we would love to have you come sew with us and we know this Sewing Holiday is going to be marvelous. As of last week there were still some tickets available and you can click HERE to find out more about it!
