I have been handbinding a lot of quilts lately, some for upcoming projects (that we can’t wait to tell you about) and some for quilts that I have made in trying to use up my stash and scrap piles this year. This quilt that is pictured above I actually finished last fall and finally got it bound last weekend. And I love it. I used an assortment of blues, tans and coral colors throughout the quilt and I really love the color combinations. It’s one of my favorites to date.
For the blocks I just cut up scraps to fit in 8 inch blocks. Some blocks are 2 -4.5’s by 8.5 inches, and some are 2 2.5’s mixed with 1 4.5 to make the 8 inch finished square quilt blocks.
I did do a little video while I was hand binding to show you the stitch I use to keep my stitches mostly under the binding and hopefully nearly invisible. It’s only 3 stitches, but I think it gives the idea!
