I have had this idea in my head for a couple of years to do a Valentine’s quilt for the family. And not just any Valentine Quilt–a quilt that we could pass around for the month of February to show each other how much we love every member of our family. So, the Valentine Quilt finally came about this year. And albeit super close to Valentine’s Day, I am hoping that we can still use it for the whole month.
Here’s how it works in our house:
Each night someone finds the “I love you because…” quilt on their bed with a note from someone else in the family telling why they love them. Then the person who received the note has 24 hours to transfer the quilt with a note to someone else in the family’s bed until everyone has had a turn.
A simple way to help remind each of us about why we are loved and also remind us how to love one another. And I am hoping that we can use it for years to come….

Such a thoughtful way to show your love. You both come up with the best, “real” ways to show others they are cared for.

I would like to make one of these. How big are your squares, and how big is the final product? ? It looks like just like 5 by 5 blocks and half square triangles. Am I currect? It looks like it’s 14 by 12 squares is that right too?? Thank you so much for a beautiful idea.

Liz, looks like 6 blocks x 6 blocks to me but couldn’t tell what size.

Liz,
The blocks are 3 inches (so the quilt is quite small) it is approximately 42 inches by 38 inches tall.

Thank you so much. I will definitely be making one for our house for next Valentine’s Day.
