Every year I make Grace a “love skirt” to wear for Valentines Day. Sometimes I post them…like HERE (The All You Need is Love Skirt) , HERE (The Love Me Two Times Skirt) and HERE (The Love is In the Air Skirt) but sometimes I don’t.
However, this is one of the post it years! For two reasons: #1. Because I really like this one and #2. Because it’s so easy to make. Let me show you how!
To make the skirt itself I used a t-shirt of mine that I never wear and THIS tutorial to make a skirt from a T-shirt.
After the skirt was made I added the “love” in three easy steps.
Step #1:
I wrote the word love in cursive writing with fabric glue.
Step #2:
I pressed wide yarn down over the top of my glue written word.
Step #3:
After allowing the glue to dry over night I top stitched down the center of the yarn.
And that’s it!
Now….if you’ve followed us for awhile you know that I love embellishing skirts with yarn (like the Hostess Cupcake Skirt and the Get in Line Skirt) and every time I post about them I have questions asking how these kinds of skirts wash….and the answer is just fine. But I should say with these skirts I do wash them as usual and then lay them flat to dry instead of throwing them in the dryer.
Alright! So that is that a t-shirt, some glue, and yarn…easy enough!
Have a wonderful Valentine’s weekend.
