Last week I had a dinner to go to (which we will write more about later 😉 where the dress code was gold and when I went to find something gold that I owned…the only thing I found in my closet was a gold belt. Probably not what they were looking for.
So, the Saturday before the dinner (because I am a procrastinator) I ran to Jo-Ann Fabrics and found some awesome black and gold brocade and decided to whip up a gold pencil skirt for the dinner. Mostly because pencil skirts are super easy…and I already had my pattern drafted so I could get it done in under 2 hours 😉
At first I thought the fabric was going to be too much (I am pretty simple) but I actually love the way it turned out. I paired the pencil skirt with a white blouse and a cardigan and a $4 gold necklace and I think it worked. And hopefully no one could tell that I spent less than $15 on the whole outfit;)
I also found some other gold fabric that is going to be a dress for Hannie that I will show you soon too, so it was a good shopping day!
I used our pencil skirt drafting tutorials that are broken up into two parts. You can find them below.

And I have a couple more skirts planned for the Spring! They really are some of my favorite things to make–I love seperates!
Are you doing any sewing for yourself lately?

YOu always look incredible. In fact, more than once I have thought, “what would Elizabeth wear.” It was fun spending some time with you and Liz. I really do love you girls!
