One of our very good friends, Melissa of The Polka Dot Chair, just published her first book and we are so thrilled for her! It is called Project Teen and is full of ideas and projects to sew for older tweens and teens….21 projects to be exact. WOWZA! And people think that there isn’t much to sew for older kids 😉
This book would be a perfect early gift for yourself so that you would have ideas and projects to sew for the teens in your life. Take this quilt for example….quatrefoil and pink. LOVE!!!

And today is our lucky day because Melissa is letting us give one of you this fantastic new book! Just leave us a comment telling us what your favorite thing is to sew for older kiddos, or teens and you are in the running for the Project Teen Book giveaway!

My older daughter is my most difficult person to find things to make for. She is by far not girlie girlie at all!!! I have made her a teddy bear (ugh) but also am getting ready to work on a rag quilt in her favorite fabrics. I have also done bags for her as well that she really enjoys!!

First off, I would LOVE to win this book. Melissa is so talented and I have been a long time follower of hers. Second, my kids are really young so I haven’t done too much sewing for teens yet, and when I DID sew something for my teenage nephews it was mostly for electronic devices. 🙂
Patti says

I sew more for my middle school daughter than for my 1st grader, due to their personalities. I like making clothes for the older one, especially because she can now wear the smallest sizes in the patterns I buy to sew for myself. This saves me money, and gives her a little more sophisticated (but not overly adult) feel to her wardrobe.
Susan says
I sew whatever my daughter will let me. Usually it is a dress or skirt for church, of which she has to approve before I begin. I’m okay with that as I don’t want to put a lot of work into something she will not wear.
Carmen N says
I usually stick with quilts because I don’t know what else to make them.
Sarah J. says
It’s terrible, but I don’t usually sew for older kids! I’m thinking zipper pouches are going to happen this year for the older girls though! Quilts are always loved by kids in my family as well (just takes me forever to sew the big ones though!). Thanks for the chance to win!
Jan says
Teens are tough, but my 10 yo loves costumes. She is always asking me to make her latest craze. So far, I have better luck at repurposing things than starting from scratch! Thanks for the neat book giveaway.

Are the stitched with love tags available at another link? The one in the post clicks to a “choose file” and “submit” action.
Thanks,
Corrinne

My teen is always bugging me to make her clothes, though I haven’t had much time to do so. I made her a new apron for her Alice in Wonderland costume recently.

Sadly, I cannot print the gift tag because a blank page is all that appears when I click on the link.
