It was all about denim this week at Project Run and Play and while I have LOVED the themes and wanted to sew along with all of them….time always goes by so fast. But, I really did want to get one look in–and denim was the answer!
I drafted this shirt dress based off a block for a girls’ collared shirt and then extended it down the front to make the shirt dress. I did draft the collar a bit differently than the original shirt block, but if I had to do it over–I probably would stick closer to the original.
The fabric is a stretch denim that was great to work with and I do love button plackets down the front of girls’ dresses. They are so cute.
The sleeves are 3/4 length but I added a button tab at the top so she could roll them up.
I only wish I’d made it a bit longer to last , but I guess it can be a tunic. Apparently what “was” a knee-length measurement at the beginning of the summer….isn’t so much. Time for new measurements all around.
