When liz showed our capes last week, there was one more that we were saving to share this week—the Audrey Cape made into Anna’s Cape from the Disney Movie Frozen. I am sure we are not alone in our two houses with the Frozen phenomenon….and in case you are needing an Anna Frozen-Inspired Costume this year for Halloween or even a birthday party….we’ve got you covered. And you can make the whole thing in less than an hour 😉 My kind of dress up or costume.
I decided to go a little more along the lines of simple and “inspired by” than an actual replica of the original costume—but I think it turned out darling. And it has already been used many times as a dress up, so it will last a lot longer than just one day, which I love.
The cape pattern is the Audrey Cape Pattern. The only modification is to add another inch onto the back of the peter pan collar for it to fit completely around the circle (because in the lined cape we are taking off some of the collar for seam allowances). The only other thing I did was round out the front corners and sew ric rac around the edge.
And the skirt is just a simple elastic-waist skirt that I made extra full (I cut two widths of fabric so the skirtis 90 inches cinched in at the waist with elastic). She does have a pettislip underneath to keep it nice and full, but if you don’t have one, you could put another skirt on underneath to keep it a bit more poofed out.
Can you tell she had fun at this photoshoot? It was one of the most glorious fall afternoons and we took a short drive up the canyon to find a good spot….and there were too many good spots to choose from. I really do marvel sometimes at the beauty of fall.

Hi Elizabeth, can you tell me where the ribbon comes in? Or can I do a button closure like in the original pattern? And how many yards of felt will I need to buy for a little girl size? Thanks! I’m excited to do this for a little “Anna” to match her sister’s “Elsa.”
