I’ve been trying to fight it….I really have…this ending of summer business…
I tried to pretend that it wasn’t happening…and then I was in denial…but last week as I was running down the canyon and saw the leaves beginning to change color I knew I would have to accept the facts: Summer is over…and the autumn season is upon us.
So instead of mourning the loss of late nights and sprinkler filled days with my kids I’m going to change my mind set and look forward to the holidays, crafts, and parties that I can enjoy with my family during the upcoming season.
And….to get me in the mood I’ve put together a short roundup of some of my favorite fall projects from seasons past…
The link under each picture will take you directly to the post that will give you all the directions to make each of the projects. So let’s get started!
A Pumpkin Carving Surprise that will Amaze your Kids
How to Make Spooky Smoking Bubbles
I’m Thankful For You Because Books
Printable Thanksgiving (and Christmas) Photobooth Props
A Thanksgiving Tablescape for Kids
Ok! That helped.
I really do love this time of year…the smells, colors, and feelings…and summer will always come again…so I’m ready to say goodbye to our swimsuits and hello to the holidays. Let’s get this party started!

Liz, I hear you. The transition is icky. And, like you, I tried to get excited about Halloween and costume-making, and that crisp, deepening evening air that makes the lights in our windows look all the more homey. And it worked . . . a little. The kids being in school helps the most, I think – that new routine feels like we’ve officially moved on, and I’m now sharing my children with other adults who care for them, instead of enjoying them all by myself in the warm summer weeks.
But . . . sniff . . . I will miss the sunshine. We have so little of it here in MN. That, more than anything else about summer, is what I wish I could bottle up, to enjoy in the very, very long winter months.
WHY am I living in MN? Why? I should be a citizen of the Bahamas. Or someplace where the sun always shines.

I always say that to….that I should have chosen a better location to live as far as sunshine is concerned! I love the warm and the light and how the sun feels on your face. When the nights start to come earlier I get a little sad….and then there is the cold…
BUT I’m going to think of the good food, fun parties, and family time ahead.

PS: If you ever decide to move to that tropical location let me know….I’d love to be your neighbor! 🙂
