Last week I got to take some photographs of Grace for a guest post over at The Ribbon Retreat today.
We love anything to do with The Ribbon Retreat so I was super excited when they asked us to be a part of their Back to School A-Z Series. For their series they assigned bloggers different letters of the alphabet and then we had to make something based on that letter.
I was lucky enough to get the letter I and so I chose to make something using Indigo colored Ikat print. (It is part of Joel Dewberry’s Botanique line and you can find it HERE.)
I LOOOOOVED the fabric and used a vintage pattern for the dress (of course) so I was happy with the process of making the dress…but then it cam time for the pictures…
…And as I watched Grace set up Lotso (her bear) to watch her get her pictures taken my heart broke a little bit….
And I realized that my “I” shouldn’t stand for Indigo Ikat. It should stand for something more like “I don’t think I can handle sending Grace to first grade this year” or “I’m not ready to let her go yet.”
Because…I don’t think I can…and I’m not….
I’m going to need a truckload full of nachos to make it through the first day of school this year. I really don’t know how I’m going to do this….
But while I am over here being a big weepy baby you head on over to The Ribbon Retreat to get the all details on the dress and to check out their fun series!
Meanwhile…I’m going to go drown my sorrows in soda.

Totally get the feeling…just dropped my baby (4th of 4) off at first grade. Instead of getting things done today, I feel like curling up in bed and crying. They grow up way to fast…

I’m so glad I had to be at work today or I would have totally been at home wallowing in end of Summer/my baby is in first grade misery.
Funny Kindergarten first day didn’t seem this hard.

Sally, if we were neighbors I would come bring you some nachos….and chocolate….and soda.
You still wouldn’t get anything done but at least we would be full!!!

Kristi,
I do think first grade is harder than kindergarten. They are gone for so long…..
