At the beginning of the summer I finished up my churndash quilt that I was working on awhile ago. It was a project that kept me sane while we were moving….I swear sewing is sometimes the best stress-reliever I have 😉
And I absolutely ADORE the quilting that Melissa did on it. And the back…..well, another coin row with all the front fabrics to extend the tan fabric. I used it for the sashing and the back and I love that it kind of mimics the look of linen.
Two thoughts about this quit…..some of the points of my outside blocks got cut off. I don’t know if I measured wrong but I didn’t have quite 1/4 inch seam allowances on the outside of the blocks. I still can’t figure it out, but next time I attempt one I will put some more thought into the mathematics of why it didn’t work out.
And two, I am still questioning my use of dark grey. I think it detracts a bit…..but again, live and learn. And hopefully while cuddling on the couch with it I won’t be too bugged by the contrast of the dark gray.
I do have to give a shout out to Clover Wonder Clips, 50 Per Pack (affiliate link) because I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE them for binding. Really and truly. They hold so well and I am not constantly poking myself with pins like I used to. I know they are a bit pricey (I am so cheap) but I promise these are really worth it. They work like a charm.
And one more full shot for good measure! I have a few more quilting projects that I have been working on this summer….show you soon. Any quilting going on at your house?

Absolutely beautiful! And I love the dark grey. You have inspired me to get busy making one of my own!

Oh yes! You’ve inspired me to start quilting again…and I tried something that wasn’t just square shapes! Triangles/diagonals are more challenging, and I got a few cut off tips too, so if you figure out what you did, please share!

How pretty! I think the dark grey is a pretty contrast, although it does feel a tiny bit unbalanced. I love the quilting too… gorgeous!
For anyone who doesn’t have them yet, watch the Wonder clips for a while before you buy, as the price changes constantly…. $13.27 is the lowest I’ve seen.

I do like the Clover Wonder Clips. I used to not pin my bindings at all, but I’ve used them on my last few quilts and really liked them. I’m working on a hexagon quilt that I know I’m going to love, but is a bit tedious. It sat for a long time but I’m forcing myself to finish it before I start something new!

TERRIFIC QUILT! From reading comments, you’ve given I-N-S-P-I-R-A-T-I-O-N to several others to get more enthusiasm for quilting. I like your choice of colorations as well as the mix of dots, stripes, florals and prints — BRAVO! I’m not a quilter, but my mother made several traditional patterned quilts while she was single living in Chicago as she married at age 31, years ago. Later in life she made patchwork quilts of 100% wool from her 4 daughters’ pleated, plaid & plain skirts! Even used wool batting & a high quality plain color backing of wool. Heirloom quality with MANY MANY MEMORIES, Indeed! Thanks for sharing. Sarah in Minneapolis
