Four years ago this month Elizabeth and I decided to try an experiment. We decided that every week day for a month we would try to post a different project on my Simple Simon and Company blog (something used mainly for craft fairs) and see what would happen.
At the time we weren’t even sure if we could come up with projects for 20 whole days but we wanted to try. So thus it began….and after 4 years not only haven’t we run out of projects but we can’t stop thinking of more!!!
(Really…like we are having a meeting tonight to try to get our runaway projects and ideas under control…so many things to make, so little time…)
A lot has changed over the past 4 years. We’ve added members to the family, undergone treatments, moved homes, survived death, attended conferences, taught classes, filmed shows, improved our skills, and have had the privilege of meeting some very amazing women.
The list may sound dramatic…but they are all facts…just facts…these last 5 years have been intense. We had no idea when we started down this path where it would lead or what we would encounter along the way. And as we’ve journeyed you’ve all been kind enough to come along…to give us support and to make us laugh and inspire us with your kindness. (Thank you for that by the way…..)
In fact, as we’ve been talking about the direction we want to go we keep coming back to all of you. Even though we haven’t met in “real life” we consider you our friends. We love your comments and feedback. We love seeing your names pop up as liking a Facebook or Instagram post. We love your emails and letters. We just simply love you. (We really do…we recognize your names, your icons, and often talk about you like you were all trusted neighbors.)
If we had our way we would be able to host a monthly Saturday sewing party (somewhere warm and sunny with an endless supply of chips, salsa, and soda) where we could all magically meet, and sew, and enjoy one another’s company.
You have no idea how badly we wish we could make that happen…but we can’t…so we are putting together a weekly “Saturday Sewing Linky Party” here at Simple Simon and Company. Every Friday night at midnight we will open a linky party where all of us can link up what ever sewing projects we’ve made for the week, are currently working on, or just want to show off.
We realize it isn’t like being all together sewing…but at least now every Saturday our projects can all get together and hang out…and we can click around to comment, support, and encourage one another. And really, I can’t think of a better gift to give ourselves on our 4th birthday than that of friends…to invite you all over every week to our place share your talents and your goodness.
And we do hope you will share…
Thank you again for your kindness these past 4 years…we appreciate you all more than you can imagine….and now, let’s get our first ever Saturday Sewing Linky Party started!!!!

I love that the Internet creates community – we move frequently so it means my sewing friends can move along with me 😀
