A few months ago my mom found this sweet dress in an antique shop and it was just Ruth’s size.
The dress was 100% handmade and the craftsmanship is phenomenal! Look at all of those pin tucks.
I know that in today’s world cutting corners, just getting it out there, speed, and disposable everything is the norm…but when I see work like this I think we are missing out…missing out on something important.
The time, the love, the skill that was used to create this dress is phenomenal and it makes me want to be better. And it reminds why I fell in love with vintage patterns in the first place.
Those women back then, they sure knew what they were doing….

This is beautiful. It looks like something a child would have been wearing in an old black and white photo.

The best part? Whoever made this beautiful piece of clothing would be ‘tickled pink’ that someone would want to have their child wear it today. I am sure if they saw her they would say something a long the lines of, “I remember making that one. I was so excited to have enough fabric leftover from making new sheets, that Baby could have a new dress for church.”…my Grandma always told those stories when she saw us pull out something she made from the past. Especially, the tickled pink part! What a lucky find, it is a beautiful piece of love that need to be worn more!
