Grace’s new “dress shirt” of course!
It’s actually made from strips of the most delicious velvet ribbon from The Ribbon Retreat and some of Riley Blake’s neon pink cotton. For awhile now Grace has wanted a “dress shirt” (a shirt that looks like a dress and is fancy but that she can wear pants and no slip with) so I finally made her one. And it was a hit.
For the complete tutorial head on over to The Ribbon Retreat where we have posted the how-to. But before you go…
Awhile ago Elizabeth and I made a decision…
One that we had thought about for a long time. And then even after we made the decision we didn’t act on it…for a year…but starting on Monday you will see a limited few ads appear on our sidebar. Sure, we’ve had the BlogHer ads over there for ages but this is different. We are going to have a few companies advertise their products on our sidebar now as well.
So what’s the big deal? Everyone does it and has a sidebar full of advertisements. Well, we’re weird and to us it kind of is a big deal are here are the 2 reasons why:
#1. We feel responsible to the companies who will advertise with us to make sure that we represent them to the best of our abilities.
and
#2. We feel responsible to you the readers to make sure we aren’t promoting junk…or low quality products…or shifty companies…or telling you to go try and buy something that we wouldn’t use ourselves.
We really do feel so responsible on both sides…and so we only feel comfortable advertising for companies that we’ve worked with and know and trust and actually use products from. (Which is why we won’t ever end up being blogging billionaires.)
With that said…on Monday we will add to the sidebar our first “real” advertisement for The Ribbon Retreat. We’ve been working with them for going on 2 years now. They carry quality products and have been nothing but professional, timely, and generous with us. We are big fans and feel very comfortable putting their name on our homepage.
Now…I’m sure that is more information than you ever wanted to know about the inner working of mine and Elizabeth’s blogging minds…so go now…head on over to The Ribbon Retreat and check out the velvet ribbon bodice tutorial.
(And thanks for coming around here…I promise we won’t ever try to steer you wrong…)
