Do you ever feel like you are always a month behind? I so naively thought that as my kids grew up that life would slow down and I could get caught-up on projects. Um….apparently not. I feel like life is busier than ever right now. And with us being in the “middle ground” of a huge move (that we get to do all over in a couple of weeks) I am feeling a bit like a chicken with my head cut off. And I fear that I am only at the beginnings of teenage “busyness.” (All you teenage moms are laughing at me right now…..because I am sure I don’t have a clue.)
Anyway, onto much more fun topics—-fantastic fabrics and quilting. That always makes me happy. I meant this to be a Valentine quilt…..but it just went to the quilter a week or so ago. Maybe I can be ahead for next Valentine’s Day?
The quilt is made from the Scrumptious line of fabrics with white Kona cotton for sashings. I will show more of it when it is done, but I am planning on binding it with the aqua bias stripe from that same line. I did simple half-square triangles with each 5″ inch squares and I think the quilt ended up around 70 inches by 70 inches. I did a tutorial awhile back (don’t judge the photography please) on how I make my half-square triangles here, and if you are thinking about making a first quilt the HST quilt is a great place to start.
And then in the middle of our displacement, I cut out another quilt top. Yes, I need help. But honestly, I feel more relaxed when I sew…..so for right now I am calling it my therapy.
What projects are you working on right now?

Super pretty! I will be anxiously awaiting the pictures of the full quilt. The colors are dreamy.

Um, yep I kind of chuckled. For some reason it only gets worse when they are teenagers. I keep thinking it’ll get a little bit better when the oldest can drive (yikes, that’s officially in 6 months…he has his permit now), because at least he can take over the early morning drive to seminary…it’s killing me. Plus the going to pick them up at friends houses on the weekends. Of course that is traded with the extra stress of having a teenager driver and having them be home on time for curfew…
Your quilt is beautiful and very Spring-y! Perfect eye candy for this cold day.

I think your quilt will look so pretty when it is finished. I am currently making the zipper pouch from your tutorial. I am also working on a bed quilt. The top is finished at 110 inches square. I need to get out my batting and see it is big enough or if I have to make it large enough and then I need to do the back.

I am pretty sure I will be emailing you in a couple of years……

Your bed quilt is big!!!! And I do sometimes wish they made backing fabrics larger than 45 or 60 or 90 inch….sometimes after piecing the top I don’t feel like piecing the back too 😉

I LOVE this line! I saw it in our local shop and went crazy! I bought many of the patterns/prints and went crazy cutting out tons of bibs using two fabrics for each. They will be in Newborn Gift Sets and just bibs. LOVE! I especially loved the large floral and the mint green with paisley! Absolutely scrumptious. 🙂 I wish I could see your entire quilt!
