Hello!
Today we are over at Sewing in No Mans Land taking part in Kelly’s 12 Skirts of Christmas Series…
…where we are sharing a tutorial for some skirts that I made my girls to wear on Christmas Day.
I’m pretty excited about them…and weirdly enough I bought everything to put their entire outfits together at Wal-Mart. The shirts are Garanimals (I actually love Garanimals shirts for the girls…they wash and wear wonderfully) and each of them cost $4.88.
And then the fabric for the skirts is some crazy satin I bought a yard and a half of for $3.25 and the tulle, of which I bought 2 yards, cost only $3.00. So even after I add in the cost of the elastic for the waistbands it means that I ended up getting two Christmas outfits for less than $20!
Awesomeness!!!!
Unfortunately the night that I bought these shirts and this fabric was also the night I was robbed in the parking lot of Wal-Mart…so in hind sight I should have bought more shirts, and fabric, and groceries…that way the crooks wouldn’t have gotten so much money and I’d have more fabric. Which, I suppose, makes the moral of the story out to be: Buy as much fabric whenever you can because you never know when your going to get robbed.
Hummmmm…not a bad moral.
I think it’s one I should live by.
Anyways…
Where was I?
Oh, that’s right.
Over in No Mans Land!
If you’ve got a minute head on over THERE and check out her series. It is a lot of fun!

What a bargain shopper you are! And again the humor is great–great for a mama in the early morning with a migraine! So sorry that had happened! Wishing you and Elizabeth and your families a wonderful, relaxing, joyful, and HEALTHY, Christmas.

Will you be doing a tutorial on the shirt? Just curious where you got the ornament that is on the chest and also if you took your ruffles all the way around or stopped at side seam!

Libby,
Sorry…no tutorial for the shirt. I actually bought the shirt at Wal-Mart for $4.88. (It’s one of their Garanimal brand shirts.) And the ruffles stop at the side seams.
As for the ornament on the shirt…it’s a gift bow that I bought at the Dollar store and glued it to a pin. They came in a pack of 2 for a dollar but I’ve seen similar ones at Hobby Lobby that you can buy individually. (And they are a little nicer looking than the dollar store ones.)
