Because we love you…..we are giving away a QUILT!

We are so excited about today.  This little beauty has been a work-in-progress for a couple of months and now she is ready for her debut and ready to be mailed off to her new home……
WHICH COULD BE YOUR HOME!
Yep, we are giving this quilt away to one of you lucky readers.
I guess I should start at the beginning of the story.  A few months ago, liZ and I went to Sewing Summit.  It was awesome and we got to take a class from the very famous Amy Smart of Diary of a Quilter, where we made hour-glass blocks for a quilt top.  It was a very fun afternoon, liZ ironed and cut like a crazy-woman (she is fast) and I sat at the machine and chain-stitched as many blocks as I could (which was not very many).
And while we were working, we talked about how fun it would be to give the finished quilt away!
So I finished piecing it (hence the slow-couple-of-months-part) and then we sent it off to the lovely Melissa to quilt.  She did such a beautiful job and now it is finally ready…. to be given away.
It is the perfect cuddle quilt and will definitely keep you cozy wherever you are!
The finished size is approximately 60 by 75 inches.

    I love sewing but my favourite thing to make is waldorf dolls! I especially loved making our elf on the shelf this year and seeing the kids faces light up when they see him each morning 🙂 merry Christmas!

    When I started sewing as a young teenager all I wanted to make was historical(er… historicalish) costumes. I got a job in high school just to support my sewing habit. Many Renaissance, colonial, Gibson Girl etc. etc. outfits later I finally figured out that if I sewed “normal” garments I could actually wear them in real life. So I switched to sewing garments for myself and worked in costume shops to satisfy my lust for totally impractical clothing. Best of both worlds!

    The colors in that quilt are beautiful!! I love sewing about anything. I’ve made a few faux chenille quilts and I love those. I’d love to get into quilting!

    Favorite thing to sew…..quilts, dolls, baby bonnets, clothing for my daughter and I….at the moment I love hand stitching hexies for various quilted projects, and little felt dolls, and ornaments. Have a Wonderful Christmas !

    I like to sew garments, I started 2 years ago with skirts, then dresses and now I’m making my second coat. (Next project: something for the husband, I guess.)

    I like to sew home stuffs. Like pillows, curtains, etc. I used to do clothes but pattern paper and my busy kids don’t mix well so I haven’t in years.

    I’ve never made a quilt even though I sew just about everything else. Kid’s clothes are my favorite things to make but this year I’m attempting to make a whole cloth reading blanket for my daughter in velveteen and voile. If this works, I’ll be more inclined to try quilting something I’ve painstakingly pieced!

    I love to sew but since having my son nearly two years ago, my time for that has been limited. The last thing I made time to sew was a scarf. I just started quilting right before I had my baby and I loved it, so I’m going to say, at this point in time, scarves are my favorite thing to sew.

    I usually am a quilter, but this holiday, I’m working on several sewing gifts (fabric dolls, cosmetic cases, etc). WAY out of my comfort zone, but they are coming together pretty well. Just hope they are done in time for the holiday!

    Thanks for the give away! This quilt is just beautiful! I would love to be able to spread it on my bed… or leave it in living room so I could use it to watch TV with the kids, all bundled under it!
    I don’t sew quilt, yet. It might be next year resolution! Until then, I love to sew things for my family and myself 🙂

    I just finished a t-shirt quilt/blanket for my son… (first time I made one) using his old t-shirts from high school that I saved.. (he is in college now) Although not perfect, it turned out really nice and I think he will be surprised and love seeing his old tee’s again and having that keepsake.

    I love sewing dresses and quilts for family and friends. The dresses are all for me, tho 🙂 but I love giving away a very nice quilt to family and those that I hold dear to my heart. The first quilts I made were when I was 17 and I made one for my Grandparents and one for my BF’s parents. We broke up 2 years later but my Grandparents used theirs until they passed away a couple years ago. My Grandfather was snuggled up in it when he passed. Now it hangs proudly in my home so I can be reminded everyday of how much a loving handmade gift can mean to those who receive it and those who make it.

    My favorite thing to sew…is what ever my little man, or my little granddaughter say they would love to have. I like doing different things. This week I have made hooded towels, gingerbread cookies, shirts and candy cane holders. Today I get to make a stay-put towel and another shirt. I am so blessed! Thank you for this give away.     My favorite thing to sew is zippered pillow covers. The base cover is simple, but you can customize and doll it up for holidays, special events, and gifts to giveaway.     My favorite thing to sew is clothing because I get more instant gratification that way. Quilts take forever, especially when you’re quilting them yourself and toys are labor intensive and time consuming. I like the fact that with a simple project, I can have something new for my kiddos to wear in an hour or so…

    I think my favorite thing to sew is clothes for my boys. It is so much fun to choose cute things with a boyish twist and then turn them into clothes. Plus, making them look cute (whether homemade clothes, store bought, or hand-me-downs) makes me smile.

    I learned to sew on my grandma’s lap, on her old treadle machine. It turned into a lifelong passion! When I had children – 1 girl and 3 boys – I relished any chance I got to sew anything for them! They had THE BEST costumes for all their history units! I strived to teach them all I could about my beloved sewing. Now that I am a Grandma and Great Aunt I am enjoying making things for the next generation. In just a couple years, I will begin “the lessons”, with them. The biggest honor was when a nephew called me on Good Friday and asked me to make an Easter dress for his daughter… she looked gorgeous!

I have millions of different types of bags: grocery, snack, purses, laundry, trip to Hawaii bags(I think I made 3 laundry bags, a bag to carry wet towels, snack bags, computer bag, eyeglass/makeup/wallet/and matching purse, plus more) ikat bag series bags (15), going on a walk, and so forth.

    What a gorgeous quilt! I used to love to sew quilts! I have made them for all the nieces and nephews and now for my three grandchildren! I never did get around to making a quilt for mine and hubbies bed. Sadly, my quilting days are over due to an injury this Spring that left me with three fingers that do not work. They are my thumb, pointer and middle fingers on my dominant hand. I severed 4 tendons and 3 nerves. They were able to repair 3 tendons and 2 nerves but the nerves have not regenerated as well as we hoped they would. Even though I have done lots of physical therapy they do not want to function enough to allow me to use them for very much!
    Would love to win this quilt to put on our bed! Thank you for the chance to!

    I’m not sure what my favorite thing to sew is… I enjoy making my kids clothes and I enjoy putting together a nice quilt. I guess a lot of it depends on the fabric I’m using- pretty fabric makes me happy!

    This is SO GORGEOUS! I love it!     Let’s see. My favorite thing to sew changes quite a bit but right now my daughter is getting an 18-inch doll for Christmas so my favorite thing to sew has been clothing items for that doll. It’s so addictive – the outfits are so cute and you can make one piece in a pretty short time since they’re so small!

    While I love to make quilts and I love the “calmness” I get from hand quilting, I find it takes much too long. So I would have to say my favorite thing to sew it dresses/tops for my 2 granddaughters — a little of a challenge, but finished within a couple of days max. Unlike my quilting which normally takes months.

    My favorite thing to sew is stuffed animal clothes. Weird thing for an adult with no kids to say; I love that I can make creative (IE, no patterns) and adorable things without having to be precise about the fit (since they are so squishy, you can never tell).

    My very favorite thing to sew is hand smocked dresses for my girls, I even tried to talk my oldest into letting me smock the bodice of her wedding gown. But she had plans for a much more modern look but with 3 more daughters to go surely one will let me make one like that:)
