liZ and I had the opportunity to come up with a fun #turkeytablescape for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store’s challenge to put together a Thanksgiving table for your family.
And this challenge was a fun one for us. Even from the beginning, we knew we wanted to do a kid’s table—and make it simple and kid-friendly, which are two things we love.
So, off we went with our gift card in hand (thanks to Jo-Ann!) to buy all the necessities for our table.
And here’s what started the whole process…
PEGGIES!!!!
If you have been around here long enough, you already know that we are obsessed with peggies. (See HERE, HERE or HERE if you are new….)
We figured that peggies would make the perfect centerpiece. So that was the first thing we bought and went from there.
So, these blank, wooden peggies……
became our pilgrims with the help of a raingutter regatta leftover from Cub Scouts that I stained to match.
And these blank peggies and a cardboard cone (that is the inside of a skein of cotton yarn!) became….
The Native Americans who helped those early settlers so much that first harvest season.
And the best part of the centerpiece is that is can be played with over and over throughout the meal—and it will hopefully keep them busy while the adults talk.
The table runner and place mats were cut pieces of wool felt that we bought by the yard and these darling feather headbands were in the $1 bins at Jo-Ann! (They were a score-deal—my kids have LOVED them).
For the dishes, I used some vintage fiestaware that my sister found for me at an estate sale and the rest of the table is leaves from our yard and some awesome log slices that my neighbor cut for me (I have the best neighbors….). I love easy and simple.
And there you have it! When I put everything together to take the pictures, my oldest was impressed (and he is NEVER impressed by my crafting antics). He asked if we could leave it up all week–SURE!
Be sure to head over to Jo-Ann Craft’s Celebrate the Season Webpage to see more projects and see their craft cataloghere get some inspiration for your Turkey Tablescapes for next week!
And one last thing….a coupon for you!
(I love their 50 percent off ones!!!)
Have a wonderful weekend everyone….we’ll see you back here on Monday.

LOVE fiesta dishes. That is so kid friendly. I have a hard time at thanksgiving making it kid friendly, they always want to touch things! This is perfect.
Did you sand the girl peggies down? Or do they come that way?
