One of my goals this year is to “use up my stash.” And while going through my scrap bins a couple of months ago I found 2 quilt kits that I bought um…..probably 3 years ago? (best guess) This is the first of them…and I will show you the second a bit later (it’s not quite done yet).
Sheesh….it’s a good thing I am doing clean-outs….you never know what in the world I am going to find in the way of fabrics.
Well, the fabric was there all neatly packaged up….but I couldn’t remember which quilt pattern went with the fabrics….so I winged it and made it an easy strip quilt, with rows of white Kona in between.
It was fast sew for the quilt top and then it was off to Melissa for the quilting. She did a large swirly pattern for me…..which I love. It is a fun pattern on the backing.
The backing is a red and white swiss dot I found in the stash and the binding is a similar red and white stripe that I bought (but can’t remember where–Hobby Lobby’s Christmas section maybe?)
And it has already been given to its special owner–a dear friend who is having some pretty severe health struggles right now. I sent it along with a note that its purpose is to bring comfort and cheer….and I pray it will.
Happy Monday everyone! Are you done with costumes at your house? Me…um. Not even close. But my goal is to show you all on Friday…so I’d better get going.

PS Any stash busting going on at your house?

That is a REAAALLLY cute quilt. So cheerful and the colors of the stripes are great. It will be very much appreciated by your friend. When I saw the quilt it made me happy 🙂 Great job! No stash busting–well maybe. I have decided to make bibs for my Etsy shop. This will allow me to use some of the smaller pieces that are left from my Sensory Ribbon Blankets. I also went crazy using “scraps” on wooden teethers. Those can be a little addicting to make–they are so darn cute!

Beautiful quilt! I love the color scheme. I’m going to pin this as stash-busting inspiration. 🙂
