Once upon a time I had a baby.
Her name was Ruth and she had wild and wonderful untamed golden locks.
So I decided that she must be Goldilocks for Halloween and I set off to make her a costume.
But I wasn’t sure what Goldilocks should look like…
And this was the best costume I could come up with:
And although I loved her in the dress and pinafore I made
(and how could I not…just look at those knees poking out between her dress and socks…)
I wasn’t sure if she looked like Goldilocks from either the front
or the back:
But in the end I decided that successfully replicated costume or not I’d still think she looked adorable and she’d still end up with a sack full of candy…
And we’d all live happily ever after.
The end.

Ok that wasn’t really the end…well, kind of, but not really…
I know this costume isn’t super crazy, fancy, or over the top but I like it. Plus it’s either this or the costume my husband came up with for her which is a Mr. T costume. And while that costume is HILARIOUS…I’m laughing just thinking about it…I want to dress her up in something that will show off all her chubby little girl goodness. (And I don’t want to her my husband say “I pity the fool” a million times on Halloween.)
SO
Ruth really is going to be Goldilocks and wear this costume. And I’ll make her a trick-or-treat bag with 3 bears on it to match. Other than that I don’t really know how to make her any more Golidlocky.
Any suggestions?

Hahaha, mr. T. I’m sorry. Your choice is no doubt much better, but oh my, that husband of yours is surely funny. I can totally picture it! 😀
She looks adorable though in her cute little dress. What a doll!

How sweet is she?! So, so cute! I like the idea of putting three bears on her treat-sack. Mr. T is a hilarious!
Have a fun Halloween! 🙂

My daughter is also going to be Goldilocks and I am running into the SAME problem! I finally finished and had her try it on last night and she cried because she wanted to be a bear too like mommy, daddy and sissy. It was pitiful so I quickly told her I would make a special bear just for her dress (what was I thinking!) so now I have to figure that out- maybe a felt aplique or a stamp along the hem. I need to remember next year to make something that has a specific “look”. I think your costume is perfect and sweet. The treat bag is really going to pull it together!

The outfit is PERFECT! Do not worry mom! And my first thought was “look at those little knees chubbin’ out over her socks”. Too sweet. And those are some HUGE bears!

Something about a broken chair comes to mind…

Bahaha Mr T. She looks adorable as Goldilocks!

WHile she’d be adorable no matter how you dressed her, I much prefer this to Mr. T LOL Also, this looks rewearable until she outgrows it too 🙂 I love rewearable costumes.

This is absolutely perfect!!!! And hmm….more ‘Goldilocky’….could you convince her to carry a bowl of porridge? Even for just a few pictures??? 😉
Falafel and the Bee says
You did a fantastic job! Oh I love those knees. She is too stinkin cute.
I also think that you can never go wrong with a good pinafore.
The three bears bag will be perfect!

Ruth looks absolutely gorgeous, enjoy it while you can because before you know it she will be grown up and won’t want to wear girly things, she does look so lovely, enjoy it!!!

Rachel—I want to see what your little girls costume looks like. I didn’t really think about her not having a specific “look” until I started figuring out the costume…the only thing I knew for sure was that Goldilocks has blond hair and is a girl 🙂

What if you gave her a (porridge) bowl to collect her candy in? I’ve got some awesome knee chub at my place too. I love fat leggies!

I think it’s just right. A pinafore is perfect for goldilocks!

She’s gorgeous – such a cutie :). I think the 3 bears on her trick-or-treat bag will help spell it out in case anyone’s not certain, but another idea (a bit extreme) would be for someone else (hmmm maybe daddy?) to dress up as one of the bears. Here in Australia Halloween is more low key…. my daughter is going to borrow some of my black clothes and take a broomstick to be a witch, and my son is leaving his costume to the last minute, which means he’ll be whatever costume he already has that still fits,

How about some porridge smeared on her face? heh heh. She looks adorable! Great job. 🙂
