I know on Wednesday I promised you a costume….and while the costume is done. Um, the photo shoot is not. ARghhh. Sorry! Hopefully we will get some time this weekend to shoot it and I will show you on Tuesday.
In other related sewing news, I have been wanting to try out a quilt-as-you-go method for a while now. I bookmarked (yes, I still bookmark…I really do belong in the dinosaur age) THIS tutorial over the summer….and have been wanting to try it out.
So, I finally pulled out some fall scraps and did. And the verdict is….I love log cabins, and I thought it was a fun way to sew a block.
I followed her tutorial exactly and while I don’t have a perfectly squared block like she does….it was a first attempt and it was a fun sew.
The one thing I did dig out to do the project was my 1/4 inch foot. (I actually didn’t know my machine even came with one, until the nice man at Sewing Summit told me what number to look for).
It is a gem I tell you, a quilting gem.
I am thinking it will make a perfect Fall pillow.
And so as not to leave you all costume-high-and-dry today….I did take a sneak peek picture.
Want to see?
And let’s have some fun this Friday….want to guess what the costume is?
Here are her costume RULES if that helps.
I will send a sewing goodie package along to the person who guesses correctly….
(Hint—this is an accessory—but the rest of it is all black and white 😉
Have a wonderful Friday!

Hmmm…. a Jail Bird? (feathers and black and white stripes, lol)
Renee says
umm, wow, can’t even tell what accessory that could be. But when you say black and white all I can think of is a mime or silent film character…

With all of the rules, I would have to go with My Fair Lady as well.

It looks like something from the nightmare before christmas but I don’t know if that would be considered old. lol Can’t wait for the reveal.

The black and white made me think of the vintage barbie, but I don’t think you’d make a swimming suit for Halloween…. So i’m thinking it also matches the big hat on My Fair Lady. Final answer 🙂

If it isn’t Auntie Mame I totally want to convince Wub to be that next year. Of course that won’t really work because next year she wants to be Iceman and the year after that she wants to be a butterfly and the year after that she’d like to be Batman. I’d like to believe she will change her mind but I wouldn’t count on it. She has her Halloween planned out for the next ten years.

Beetlejuice? I suppose that could seem old to a child.

Cruella de Vil? Not exactly funny though…

I’m guessing mad hatter… Don’t know if that could be considered old though.

I still bookmark everything too! And that 1/4″ foot is also amazing for tiny seams on clothing, and for wide topstitching.
Looking forward to seeing what the costume is… I have no guesses!

Oh, my! So glad I went and read the requirements! Love the other costumes. I’m racking my brain and all I can come up with is Eliza Doolittle from My Fair Lady. One of my favorite movies, too!
Can’t wait to see what it actually is!
