I was out yard sale-ing with my mom a couple of summers ago when we came across this vintage telephone stand….and it was one of those “I hope the price isn’t too high….because I have the perfect place for it.” And lo and behold the price was $8.00—-SCORE!!!!!
But the sad part was that the poor vintage phone stand then sat in my garage for 2 years….pathetic, I know. Especially because every time I would walk by it, I would think, “I’ve got to get that done, it is perfect for this corner.”
So, a couple of weeks ago….I got it done. YIPPPEEE!!!! (I am on a finish-what-you-started kick, which you will see more of soon.)
The whole thing got a good sanding, a couple coats of primer and then 2 coats of a high-gloss white.
And the fabric? Well, that was another dilemma.
But thank goodness Jodi at Sew Fine Fabric came to my rescue with 2 yards of Glimma by Lotta Jansdotter (in canvas—AWESOME!) and then the accent pillow in Dandelion from the Glimma line as well.
I actually love the fact that the lines are not perfect on the Dandelion Striped canvas, because the upholstering (or staple-gunning) was so much easier….it didn’t have to be perfect on my end either!
And Jodi has some other amazing fabric lines available and carries many of them in home decor weight (which is not so easily found). Be sure to check her shop out….there are some treasures in there. And washi tape sets to match many of the fabric lines…how awesome is that?
But at least I am a lot closer…..

Of course… In my head I have so many projects that I want to do, but haven’t even started yet 🙂 Love this! My mom has wanted a telephone stand like this for ages, but they are always too expensive in the antique stores. We’ll just have to keep searching!

Oh yes. I have many sewing projects and have started and unfinished house projects.
The telephone stand turned out really cute. I remember my grandmother having one of these and sitting at it when her friends would call.

I bought a roll top desk a year before my oldest was born. I had started in on the sanding but then found out I was expecting so I quit working on it. It’s still sitting in my basement as I left it 9 years ago…. sigh. Someday, right?

We bought a dandelion chandelier from IKEA two years ago. It’s still in the box in the closet. Oh and picture rails…I’ve been planning on putting those up since we bought the house. In fact there is absolutely no art hung on any wall because I’m going to put that picture rail up one day…
