I like weird holidays.
I always have.
Even back in college I would make up my own holidays to celebrate with my roommates—and everyone else who lived around us. Some of them were happy like “Peg Your Pants Day”, “Hooray for Cheese Day” and “MC Hammer Appreciation Day” and then others of them were…. just, well, just like “Poke Someone in the Eye Day” and “Hug a Sasquatch Day”.
I like having something to celebrate and something to make each say special and different (and like Simon says I like to make “things funly weird”).
Over on our Facebook Page I randomly write about whatever holiday we happen to be celebrating that day (which now that I’m “grown up” we try to stick to “real” holidays) but recently I started to wonder if maybe you might want to celebrate some of this randomness along with me.
So for the next little while I thought it would be fun at the beginning of each month to share a list of upcoming “holidays”.(And I swear that the holidays I’m listing are legit…not just me making them up!)
Now I am a few days late getting April’s list together. Sorry. But I’ll start from today and go through the end of the month…and then if there’s anything you want to celebrate, you’ll know about it! (And I’ll get May’s list up earlier so we won’t miss anything.)
Here we go—
The Days of Celebration and Observation for April

Autism Awareness Month, International Guitar Month, Keep America Beautiful Month, National Humor Month, National Frog Month, Child Abuse Prevention Month, National Poetry Month, Parkinson’s Awareness Month, and National Lawn and Garden Month
So there you have it. A list of things to celebrate almost every single day for the rest of the entire month. Now all you have to do is decide on which days you plan on celebrating! (Who knew that April was going to be so darn much fun?)

This is such a fun idea! My favorite holiday is Lima bean respect day. Because they obviously don’t get enough respect. 😉

You don’t have to come up with any “funly wierd” holidays on your own liZ…this is unbelievable! HA! Who comes up with this stuff and ok’s it?? This is good. I had to check what day “no housework” day was. It’s Sunday…close but I’ll still be doing laundry:) They should make that day Christmas…that is the ONE day of the year I do absolutely nothing! Frog month?

Ha ha! Love it! What about half-birthday celebrations?! My friends and I would decorate our lockers for our half-birthdays in high school. I love it! It obviously doesn’t take much to make me happy. 😉

This is so fun!!! I have been searching for non-religious holidays to celebrate & you were obviously posting this for me. 😉
Thanks!

YEA! Thank you for these. All my friends know I am a little off, so thanks for helping me.

April is also Sarcoidosis Awareness month. 🙂
(I have systemic and what they now think is Neurosarcoidosis–which looks like a mish mash of MS and Parkinson’s. Yay me! LOL!)

I was reading the list to my kids and they were laughing out loud:) I asked my son what we should do for Bat Appreciation Day, and he said “play baseball!” I guess we know where his interests lie 🙂 Poor April 21st…maybe we should make one up for that day!
