A few weeks ago we were contacted about receiving and reviewing a copy of the new book Sew Red. Sew Red is the first sewing and quilting book to put a stylish twist on raising awareness about heart disease in women.
We actually received the book and looked through its beautiful pictures on the way to the sewing and stitchery expo in Seattle and were so impressed with all the projects from sewing celebrities such as Amy Butler, Tula Pink, Anna Maria Horner, and Vanessa from V and Co.
But the even funnier part of the story is that on Saturday when we were walking around the expo and oohing and ahhing at all the creative vendors we had the opportunity to meet Laura Zander, the author of Sew Red. She was so cute and a pleasure to talk to and we laughed about how we had just received her book the day before and were so impressed with the projects.
And the best part about Sew Red….a portion of the proceeds go directly to help women fight heart disease! What an awesome idea.
Want a peek at some of the projects?
Aren’t they beautiful?
You can find out more about the whole project HERE.
I am in the middle of a fabric mess that I am calling the Spring Look book….which includes dyeing my hands lemon yellow yesterday. Pretty classic decision for me to not wear gloves. Hopefully it will wear off soonish….
Have a great Wednesday everyone!

Blue Dawn works really well to help get dyes off your hands, for some reason the blue version is similar to synthrapol and helps get rid of fugitive dyes!

I’m a cake decorator and I dye my hands rainbow colors all the time. (You’d think after 15 years I’d learn not to.) Try using a big blob of your favorite hand lotion and 1 tablespoon of sugar. Rub your hands together until the sugar is mostly dissolved then wash your hands and put more lotion on. It probably won’t get all of it but it should tone it down a bit. Don’t do the sugar tick more than once or twice a week or you’ll end up with owie instead of wowie.
That book looks beautiful especially that origami-ish pillow.

I am going to try it! Thanks! And I am the same way. I think I won’t get any on my hands and then I end up with my palms the color of big bird (although the color did come out exactly how I wanted it 😉
