Recently this dress has been popping up all over the blogsphere.
And it is all thanks to our friend Shannon (from luvinthemommyhood) and her darling Sweetheart Dress Pattern with it’s signature heart cut out.
It’s such a fun little number especially for Valentine’s Day and I was so excited when Shannon asked us about giving it a whirl. The pattern is downloadable, easy to read, comes in many different sizes (You can get all the details HERE.) and I printed them out the same day I got her email.
But then life happened…and it kept getting pushed aside. Until the other night when I put my husband on dish duty and I finally got a chance to sew it up. I couldn’t believe how quickly it went together! I only had a few minor things left to do by the time my husband finished cleaning up the kitchen.
Now that’s my kind of project! (Especially the part with the husband doing the dishes while I sew part…yea, I could used to that….)
My favorite part of the dress is how nicely it lends itself to using coordinating fabrics. (I’m kind of a sucker when it comes to using coordinating fabrics.)
See:
Look how cute that heart looks when you can peek through to the coordinating lining.
I love this fabric that I used for the dress. I’ve had it for awhile now. I used once in a window display that showcased Romantic Era ink sketches and I’ve been saving it for just the right project ever since.
It came from Windham Fabrics and I’m sure they don’t still carry it but I wish they’d bring it back for a reunion tour. I think it’s pretty cool and I’d totally get some more.
Anyways…enough about the fabric, let’s get down to business. If you want to make a Sweetheart dress for your little one you can get the patternHERE or you can leave it up to chance and enter to win one because…
Shannon is giving away one of her patterns to one of our readers!
Nice huh?
Well, that’s Shannon.
(Really, she has gotten more than her fair share of random emails from us asking all sorts of crazy things and she always answers them…honestly, the woman deserves a medal.)
So, if you want to enter to win a Sweetheart Dress Pattern for your very own just leave us a comment…maybe a random question…or why you like Shannon to! 🙂
Good Luck and we’ll announce the winner on Monday!

Oh my goodness! That dress is just darling! I don’t have any children, but I can hint of at least four friends with little girls who would just love this!! It’s the perfect pattern to add some fun girlyness to a classic little dress silhouette.

So delicious. I took a sewing hiatus when my daughter was born; now that she’s one, I’m getting back to it, starting with clothes for her (her birthday dress was based on your vintage holiday dress pattern). I’d love to make this for her for a wedding we’re going to in June!
i love this dress and am hoping to win it and i will make my girl one and a couple of her cousins one each. it is great and will go good for this summer too. i have seen other things from shannon and she does a great job on sewing.

I’ve been asked to make flower girl dresses as a favour (panic) – the sweetheart dress would be perfect and maybe I could produce something presentable with this pattern…..I’ve never sewn from a PDF pattern and have only drafted a bodice once, (fail) – I am very in awe of the talent it takes to make these patterns available to download….. Here’s hoping I get to give this a go!
I do love Shannon and that dress! I’m a follower of her blog and love her passion & humor 🙂 Lovely job on Grace’s dress too!
I love the convenience of pdf patterns and this one looks like a keeper. My random question is: When are you opening your Etsy shop, I’m dying to know what you will be selling!
A beautiful dress and I would love to own the pattern.
