I’ve been working on cleaning up and organizing the house…and trying to solve some storage issues.
One of those issues is Grace…and all 8 million of her hair bows.
We’ve been keeping them in a bin but she likes to look through them to pick out which one she wants and they usually end up in a pile on the floor.
So in order to solve the problem I made this:
The Bow-A-Constrictor:
It was easy to make, it solves the problem, and I think it will be cute on the wall.
In fact, I plan to make at least 2 more of these to hang in a grouping…it will hold all of her bows and be a fun decoration.
To make one like mine all you need is felt, ribbon and hot glue.
(Did I mention it’s inexpensive as well?)
When you have those supplies rounded up here’s what you’ll do:
#1. Cut one piece of your felt into a rectangle 9 and a half inches by 32 inches. Then cut another piece of felt 9 and a half inches by 4 inches.
#2. Fold your large piece of felt as shown in the picture below. (With both edges coming together in the middle.) This will be the back of your bow.
#3. Fold/scrunch the middle of your bow accordion style. (As shown in the picture below.) Then tack it together with a few dabs of hot glue.
#4. Take your small piece of felt and fold it into thirds lengthwise. (As shown in the picture below.)
#5. Wrap the small piece around the center of your bow (beginning and ending on the backside of the bow). Hot glue it down and cut off the excess felt.
#6. Determine how long you need your ribbon to be. (It will depend on how many ribbons you want to hang from each one.) Cut your ribbon and hot glue them onto the back of your bow as shown in the picture below.
#7. Cut a small piece of ribbon to create a loop to glue onto the back of your ribbon.
(This will be how you will be able to hang up your Bow-A-Constrictor.)
#8. Glue the loop onto the back of your bow.
(Then for extra support on the hanger I used a piece of my excess felt to glue over the top of it as a patch….You can see this in the picture below.)
#9. Now fluff, hang, and add your bows!
Have a good Tuesday everyone…and wish me luck as I continue to clean things out!

PS—Did you know that the first week of October is National Organization week?
(Well, it is…and I’m working on it. Slowly but surely.)

Right now all my little’s bows fit in a spacemaker, but I’ll have to file this away for when she goes to school. This would be great in a girly room or bathroom.

So when this first popped up in my reader I thought your daughter wanted to be a bow-a-constrictor. 🙂 Love how you can see all the bows at once and keep them untangled. 🙂

Where did you find such a big piece of felt?! I can always only find the printer paper sized ones 🙁
