I am having another one of those are-you-kidding-am-I-living-in-an-I-Love-Lucy-episode weekends.
(Which actually happens more often than I’d like to admit.)
I would explain whats been going on –like the lights, appliances, and electronic devices that have mysteriously been turning themselves on and off all morning (and freaking me out) or the almost 300 hair bows and 40 skirts I have strewn about the floor (more about that later) or the lady at Wal-Mart who lost her mind in the line behind me this morning and started yelling about the temperature of the soda in the display case but you wouldn’t believe me….
Just know that between a combination of events and upcoming obligations I’m on the verge of hysterics which brings me to the point of this post—-some helpful advice from the one and only Heloise (the 1960’s columnist and homemaking extraordinaire) written in 1965:
“…if you are on the verge of hysterics, dial “O” for operator on your phone. She is the best friend we have when we have difficulty making sense. And when you get on the phone don’t forget these two very important things:
State your address first! (Just in case you collapse—and it happens often.) Then state what’s happened so far so she can call the proper place and get help to you in a hurry. She knows.
Don’t hang up the phone! Leave it off the hook so the operator can hear you. She wants to know what’s going on so she can call more help if needed.”
I’m off to go dial “O” so if you need me in the next little while don’t call, my line will be busy…or else I’ve collapsed…

awwww… I often think my life would make a good sitcom too! I always pause and think– Tomorrow this will be funny. Or maybe next week.
I hope things get better for you soon.

I wish we had an O for Operator dial. Somedays all of us can use an ear at the other end with answers to our hysteria.:D

I had an “I Love Lucy Night” at the hospital last night. Must be something in the air! Oh, how I long for the day when all you had to do was dial 0 for Operator. You actually got a, human, who cared. And if she didn’t know the answer for your question, she knew just where to look for the answer! Remember? Now you have to dial 00 and get a pre-recorded message that never seems to have your particular question to be answered. Dial 1 for___ dial 2 for ___, gee, what was number 8 for? To listen to the previous menu press the * key. I hope you have a really calm Sunday and a very Blessed week. (((hugs)))

Hahaha! Dial 0 for operator . . . sounds like that’s coming from a different lifetime. Good luck with your hysterics. I know the feeling. I feel like I’ve already left you a comment about the time *I* was the crazy lady who broke down crying at Walmart recently, so I won’t repeat it. If I didn’t, just replace the lady behind you with my face and you’ve pretty much got the gist. I hope you pull through, and if there’s anything a local blog buddy could help with, let me know . . . I only live a few minutes away 🙂

You crack me up…and again this is why I visit your site! Seriously? Dial 0? WOW! I could say that I have ended up sharing more than needed by calling Lands End (numerous times) and even Zappos more recently. Please note: I am ordering an item! I sometimes do wonder how we got to the point in our conversation we did! It feels good to let it out and share with someone. Thanks for sharing your “Lucy” weekend. Oh,and that is what you get for shopping at WalMart!
